New York City is currently under an extreme heat advisory through at least Tuesday. High temperatures can pose serious health risks—especially for individuals without reliable air conditioning or stable housing.
To help residents stay safe and cool, cooling centers, spray showers, and fire hydrant spray caps are available throughout the five boroughs.
If you or someone you know needs relief from the heat, resources are available:
- Indoor cooling center locations
- Spray showers and drinking fountain locations
- Info on free AC eligibility through NYC’s Cooling Assistance Program
- Visit nyc.gov/beattheheat to find the nearest cooling site or learn more about available services
