On Wednesday, August 27, we marked the start of the upcoming school year with a special Back-to-School celebration at our Lower East Side pantry. Sixty children received backpacks filled with school supplies, helping to ensure they are ready for the year ahead.
The event was made possible through the generous support of Assembly Member Harvey Epstein (District 74) and the dedication of 10 volunteers from SCOR. In addition to the backpacks, 20 families enjoyed a hot lunch, engaging activities, and a mini food pantry distribution of healthy essentials.
As food and housing costs continue to rise, each backpack, notebook, and pantry item plays an important role in easing the financial burden on families. With community support, Nazareth Housing is helping children start the school year with confidence and providing families with resources to thrive.
