We are excited to announce that Nohely Murillo has been promoted to Family Support and Youth Coordinator at Thorpe Family Residence! We are grateful for her continued passion and commitment to our homelessness prevention efforts.
Nohely has been with Nazareth Housing for two and half years and has made a big impact in the lives our clients – and our staff members! Not only does she coordinate activities for the children at Thorpe, but she helps clients navigate social services and government programs by accompanying them to HRA offices when there is a language barrier.
As the youth program coordinator at Thorpe Family Residence in The Bronx, she creates and implements recreational and educational activities for children in the shelter such as arts and crafts, dance, homework help, summer sports, and so much more. She also organizes seasonal and holiday events including trips to the Bronx Zoo or the Botanical Garden, as well as holiday parties and toy drives for Christmas.
Nohely also plays an important role in coordinating the monthly Reading Program when volunteers from our Junior Board spend time with the children the at Thorpe, reading and doing activities. Additionally, she works with other providers to offer the children services like sleep-away camp, on-site theater programs, a wood building program, and Girl Scout activities.
During her free time, she loves to bake.
