Nazareth Housing is proud to welcome Sandra Galvin to our Board of Directors. With deep personal roots in New York City and a longstanding commitment to public service, Sandra brings passion, experience, and a strong belief in strengthening support systems for families across our communities.
We sat down with Sandra to learn more about what inspired her to join the Board and what she hopes to contribute in the years ahead. Read the full Q&A below.
What inspired you to join Nazareth Housing’s Board?
First, let me say that I had the good fortune to work with Mary Beth Hogan at Debevoise & Plimpton, and was so glad when she reached out about this opportunity. I came to New York 25 years ago – my husband and I raised two daughters here (who are proud native NYers), and joining the board feels like a wonderful way to give back to our ‘neighbors’ and the city that has been our home. I also had parents who were both deeply committed to public service, especially supporting kids in need, so contributing to an organization also focused on supporting families felt like a natural extension of how I was raised.
What part of Nazareth Housing’s mission resonates most deeply with you?
The work they do to provide food stability and safe housing – critical support that can help prevent homelessness, particularly for families and kids living without a safety net. The compassion and drive of everyone involved is also very inspiring!
What do you hope to bring to the organization in your new role as a Board Member?
I’d like to support communications efforts, to raise visibility for Nazareth Housing’s amazing work and help the organization reach even more clients who need its services.
